NAPA, CA — An investigation is currently underway following a fatal pedestrian accident on a busy Napa roadway last Thursday evening. Police are working to determine the cause of the crash, although initial reports suggest that neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the incident.
The collision occurred around 6:45 p.m. on Soscol Avenue, a heavily traveled thoroughfare lined with stores and restaurants. Napa police officers responded to a report of the crash and found an unresponsive man in the southbound lanes near Imola Avenue. Despite efforts to revive him, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the pedestrian has not been released by the Napa County Sheriff’s Office as of Sunday, and authorities are continuing their investigation. The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and has been fully cooperative with law enforcement officials.
A section of Soscol Avenue was closed for approximately four hours Thursday night as investigators processed the scene and workers cleared debris.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Napa police officer Nick Toscani at ntoscani@cityofnapa.org.
As the investigation continues, residents and witnesses in the area are encouraged to come forward to assist with the ongoing inquiry into the tragic event.
