NAPA, CA — A violent altercation in downtown Napa led to a significant gun and drug arrest this week, after police responded to a report of an attack on a man standing with his wife.

According to Napa Police, officers were dispatched to the intersection near First and Main Streets late Tuesday evening after receiving multiple calls about a disturbance. Witnesses reported seeing a man physically assault another individual without provocation. The victim, who was reportedly standing with his wife at the time, sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

Authorities quickly apprehended the suspect at the scene. Upon searching the man’s vehicle, parked just a block away, officers discovered a loaded firearm along with multiple pounds of cannabis and what appeared to be a significant quantity of cocaine. Police estimate the street value of the drugs to be in the tens of thousands of dollars.

The suspect, whose name has not yet been released pending formal charges, was taken into custody and booked at the Napa County Jail. He is facing multiple felony charges, including assault, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Napa Police Chief Jennifer Gonzales commented on the incident Wednesday morning. “This arrest likely prevented further violence and drug distribution in our community,” she said. “We’re thankful for the quick response by our officers and the cooperation of eyewitnesses who helped bring the situation under control.”

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine whether the suspect has any ties to larger drug trafficking operations in the region.

Anyone with further information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Napa Police Department.
