Sonoma County, CA — A tragic head-on collision on Occidental Road on Saturday afternoon claimed the life of one driver and left two others with major injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The crash occurred around 3:58 p.m. on Occidental Road, located east of Mill Station Road and approximately 10 miles west of Santa Rosa. Authorities report that a Honda Accord, traveling eastbound, drifted into the oncoming lane, colliding head-on with a Jeep Wrangler.

The driver of the Honda Accord was pronounced dead at the scene. The Jeep’s driver and a passenger were both seriously injured and transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment, the CHP confirmed.

A preliminary investigation by the CHP suggests that the Honda’s sudden lane change contributed to the crash. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved, pending notification of next of kin.

The CHP is asking anyone with information about the accident to contact them at (707) 806-5600. For inquiries regarding the deceased driver, the Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office can be reached directly.

This collision serves as a reminder of the dangers of distracted or impaired driving, particularly on winding, rural roads such as Occidental Road. As the investigation continues, local authorities urge drivers to exercise caution and stay alert on the roads.
