FAIRFIELD, CA — A fast-moving vegetation fire broke out near Vista Grande and Capitola Way in Fairfield, prompting multiple agencies to respond and resulting in mandatory evacuations for several neighborhoods.

The blaze, which consumed approximately 43 acres, was being fought by Cal Fire alongside Vallejo and Fairfield fire departments. Vallejo Fire officials reported that the fire threatened homes in the area, leading to swift action to protect residents.

Fairfield Police and Fire departments ordered mandatory evacuations for residents and business occupants in the neighborhoods of Palmer Circle, Bear Creek Drive, and Sky View Circle. Authorities established a safe meeting location for evacuees at the Lowe’s store on North Texas Street and Manuel Campos Parkway.

By early evening, firefighting crews successfully halted the forward progress of the fire. Following this, evacuation orders were lifted, allowing residents to return safely to their homes.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely and advise residents to stay informed through official channels including the Fairfield Police Department and Cal Fire’s updates.
