Did you knew that one in three households in America owns a dog or dogs? It seems the majority are dog people vs. cat people, because dogs have a more outgoing, compassion kind of personality. Dogs are man’s best friend after all, so when you find a dog with a personality that meshes well with yours, they become family. Have you ever wondered what state is known for loving their dogs the most? The good old California! Being one of the largest states and a great environment for dogs to thrive, it is no surprise that California takes the lead for the most dog lovers.

But, this is not the case in the second largest country (by population) in the world – India. An eight-year-old female dog was sexually assaulted. Here are the details…

In a horrific case of animal abuse, an eight-year-old female dog named ‘Noorie’ was sexually assaulted inside a shopping complex in Mumbai’s Powai area.

One Devi Sheth, on Thursday, received a video wherein Noorie was seen lying unresponsive at Galleria Mall in Powai. Subsequently, she, along with her mother Minnu, went to the spot and found the speechless canine lying in a pool of blood with an 10-inch wooden rod inserted in her private parts. They rushed her to NGO World For All’s care centre, where vets removed the rod from her private parts and administered her treatment. Her condition, however, is still critical.

“She was in a pool of blood. There was no response, but you could see she was suffering… When we found her, so many people were just walking past… Strays are our responsibility. But people discard them like they are nothing,” Devi told Mumbai Mirror.

The brutality was reported to the Powai police by Bombay Animal Rights (BAR), following which a case was registered against unidentified persons under IPC sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 429 (mischief by killing or maiming an animal).

Vijay Kishore, from BAR, told MM, “It is uncommon for the police to book people under Section 377. However, the brutality with which she was assaulted led them to add the section.”
