SOLANO COUNTY, CA — The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has announced that a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint will take place in Solano County this Friday night. The checkpoint is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. on March 28, 2025, and will continue until 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
The exact location of the checkpoint will remain undisclosed until two hours prior to the start of the operation, in accordance with a California Supreme Court ruling. This measure is intended to ensure transparency while allowing officers to target areas with high rates of intoxicated or unlicensed drivers.
According to CHP Officer Garrett Pumphrey, the goal of the checkpoint is to “ensure the safe passage of each motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of intoxicated or unlicensed drivers.” Officer Pumphrey emphasized that sobriety and driver’s license checkpoints have proven to be effective tools in enhancing public safety and complementing regular patrol operations.
The checkpoint is being funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It forms part of the ongoing efforts to reduce impaired driving incidents and prevent accidents on California roads.
Motorists in Solano County are urged to remain cautious and drive responsibly, as the CHP continues its efforts to enhance road safety and curb impaired driving.
