FAIRFIELD, CA — A Fairfield man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly attempting to kidnap a 14-year-old girl walking to school. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. when the student, en route to Matt Garcia Career and College Academy, reported that a man attempted to grab her as she walked along the street.
According to authorities, the young girl managed to break free from the man’s grasp and fled to safety. Upon arriving at school, she immediately informed her father and school officials about the attempted abduction. Administrators quickly contacted the Fairfield Police Department, prompting a swift response from officers.
Police began searching for the suspect and were able to locate him within hours, using security camera footage from nearby City Hall. The footage helped officers identify the man as 52-year-old Samuel Galvao, who was subsequently found on the third floor of City Hall. Authorities said Galvao resisted arrest but was taken into custody without further incident.
The victim positively identified Galvao as her attacker, and an independent witness also corroborated her account. As a result, Galvao was arrested on charges of attempted kidnapping and resisting arrest.
He was booked into the Solano County Jail, where he awaits further legal proceedings. The Fairfield Police Department continues to investigate the incident and has reassured the public that the victim was unharmed in the attempted abduction.
This arrest highlights the importance of community cooperation, with the prompt reporting from the victim, her family, and the school playing a key role in bringing the suspect to justice.
