SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A fatal head-on collision on Occidental Road claimed the life of one driver and left two others with major injuries on Saturday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the scene at approximately 3:58 p.m., about 10 miles west of Santa Rosa.
According to a preliminary investigation, the incident occurred when a Honda Accord, traveling eastbound on Occidental Road, drifted into the oncoming lane and collided with a Jeep Wrangler heading in the opposite direction. The force of the crash left the driver of the Honda dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep, along with a passenger, sustained major injuries and were both transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved in the crash.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and the CHP has not determined whether alcohol, drugs, or other factors played a role in the incident.
