California – Governor Gavin Newsom announced the launch of LA Rises, a private-sector initiative aimed at supporting the recovery and rebuilding of Los Angeles communities affected by recent wildfires.
The effort is led by Dodgers Chairman Mark Walter, basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson, and LA28 Chairperson Casey Wasserman.
To jumpstart the initiative, Walter, the Mark Walter Family Foundation, and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation have committed up to $100 million.
Additional funds will be raised through private donations to provide critical resources for communities impacted by the fires, including Altadena, Pasadena, and the Pacific Palisades.
LA Rises will work alongside city, county, and state officials to accelerate recovery efforts by mobilizing private-sector resources, unlocking additional capital, and leveraging innovative rebuilding strategies.
Local and state governments are coordinating with federal agencies to streamline the recovery process and remove bureaucratic obstacles.
