With modifications due to the current health orders and guidelines, the City will continue to provide necessary and essential services for public health and safety. Temporary limitations on some non-essential City operations have been made to protect members of the community and our employees by reducing person-to-person contact, but we remain Here For You, Sonoma.  City staff can be reached by phone and email during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – noon and 1:00 – 5:00 PM.

Police and Fire

Emergency calls for service will continue to receive the same high level of professional response and care as you have always received. In an emergency dial 9-1-1. Dispatch may ask you for additional information.

The Sonoma Police and Fire Departments have made minor modifications to service to ensure the safety of our public and our personnel, including the closure of fire stations to the public.  The Police Department lobby is open to walk-in visitors but the restrooms in the lobby are closed and fingerprint services are suspended until further notice. Fire Department staff can be reached at (707) 996-2102 for non-emergency matters during normal business hours. The Sonoma Police Department office can be reached during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM at (707) 996-3602 for non-emergency matters. You can reach 24 hour non-emergency dispatch at 707-996-3601.

Sonoma City Council and other Public Meetings

In order to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the City of Sonoma is providing multiple alternatives to viewing Council meetings and providing comments on items on the agenda. These alternatives allow the City to adhere to social distancing requirements, follow the Governor’s Executive Order N-29-20 (which suspends certain requirements of the Brown Act), and provide numerous ways for the public to provide public comment live during the meeting.  Learn more about where to view meetings online and how to participate in public comment.

City Hall

City Hall, including the Building & Planning counter, is currently open by appointment only by calling City Hall at (707) 938-3681. City Hall service is also available by phone and email. City Hall phones, will be answered during regular business hours (Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – Noon and 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM). Most City Hall staff are working in their regular positions remotely. Find contact information here for City departments and services.  A payment drop box has been installed near the entrance to City Hall (no cash payments please). Public Works

City of Sonoma Public Works offices at the Corporation Yard will be closed to the public for walk-in service until further notice. Essential maintenance and hazard response will continue. Issues such as downed trees, flooding, road hazards, and traffic sign or signal issues can be reported by calling Public Works at (707) 938-3332 or 24-hour dispatch at (707) 996-3601. Other issues or questions can be submitted to staff at (707) 938-3332 during business hours or by emailing publicworks@sonomacity.org.

City Parks & Trails

Playgrounds are now open subject to COVID-19 safety guidelines.  Park users can engage in outdoor activities, recreation, or sports as long as the group size does not exceed 12 persons, with strict adherence to Social Distancing and Hygiene Requirements and Face Covering Requirements (no tournaments or competitions). Picnic areas are open to individuals or members of the same household and restrooms are open, with modifications. Drinking fountains remain off.

Code Enforcement 

Code enforcement activities will continue on a limited basis for life safety issues and compliance with current public health orders.  The City Council has adopted a local ordinance for enforcement of violations of public health orders; learn more here about the ordinance and how to report violations.
