NAPA COUNTY, CA — A motorcyclist tragically lost his life Saturday afternoon after a collision with another vehicle on Wooden Valley Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The incident occurred around 2:20 p.m. when the rider, traveling northbound on the Triumph motorcycle, encountered a Chevrolet heading south on the winding road. As the motorcyclist navigated a curve, he laid the bike down in an attempt to avoid a collision. The motorcycle slid and crashed into the right front tire of the Chevrolet, pinning the rider underneath the vehicle.
The driver of the Chevrolet, along with a passenger and a witness who had been driving behind the motorcycle, immediately attempted to lift the vehicle off the rider. Despite their efforts, the motorcyclist was trapped for a short time until emergency responders arrived at the scene.
Unfortunately, the rider succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving paramedics.
The crash led to the closure of Wooden Valley Road at the 1700 block in both directions for several hours, with the road reopening at approximately 5 p.m., according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.
The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released as the CHP continues its investigation into the cause of the accident.
