Napa, CA — Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) customers in the Bay Area will receive a credit on their April bills, offering relief as the utility company works toward a more sustainable future.
Residential customers with active electric accounts will receive a credit of $58.23, while those with active gas accounts will see a credit of $67.03. Customers who receive both electric and gas services will receive a combined credit of $125.26.
This bill credit is part of California’s ongoing efforts to support families facing rising energy costs while also fostering a more climate-resilient future. The credit comes from the California Climate Credit, which is funded through the state’s Cap-and-Trade Program. The program requires companies to pay for carbon emissions, and the revenue generated is used to fund initiatives aimed at improving public health, protecting the environment, and supporting disadvantaged communities.
PG&E’s Senior Vice President of Customer Experience, Vincent Davis, expressed support for the initiative, saying, “We know many of our customers are feeling the pressure of rising energy bills. We support bill relief for families and fostering a more climate-resilient future.”
Since 2014, PG&E residential customers have benefited from these climate credits, with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) calculating that customers have received nearly $1,000 on average, totaling more than $12.9 billion in Cap-and-Trade Program benefits statewide.
These credits are an integral part of California’s strategy to reduce carbon emissions and ensure that the financial benefits of the state’s environmental efforts reach the public.
