Bay Area, CA – Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is launching a new initiative this spring, offering 3,000 free trees to households across its service area. The program, aimed at enhancing community safety and promoting environmental sustainability, allows customers to reserve one tree per household on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The initiative, funded through PG&E’s Energy-Savings Trees program, began on March 12 and is already drawing interest from local residents. The trees available for reservation include a variety of species that are well-suited to the Bay Area’s climate, such as the Japanese Red Maple, Redbud, Flowering Dogwood, Kousa Dogwood, Japanese Snowbell, and Tuliptree.

In an effort to ensure that trees are planted in the right places, PG&E has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation. Together, they are providing customers with safety tips and guidance on identifying suitable locations for planting. The program not only aims to beautify neighborhoods but also to help reduce energy consumption by strategically placing trees that can offer shade and improve air quality.

Residents interested in participating can visit the Arbor Day Foundation’s website at Arborday.org/pge to check eligibility by entering their address. Once an order is placed, the trees will be delivered directly to the customer’s home within six weeks.

This program is just one of PG&E’s many efforts to encourage sustainability and community well-being. By offering these free trees, the company hopes to contribute to both the aesthetic and environmental health of local neighborhoods while promoting safety and energy efficiency.

With limited availability, residents are urged to act quickly to secure their free tree.
