SANTA ROSA, CA — Police in Santa Rosa have announced they are actively searching for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at a local movie theater last summer.
The incident, which occurred at the Roxy Stadium 14 on Santa Rosa Avenue in downtown, went unreported for several months due to the traumatizing nature of the event.
According to police, the victim, a teenage girl, was attending a movie at the theater during the afternoon. After a while, she went alone to the restroom, where she noticed a man following her toward the lobby.
Officers stated that once the victim was in a hallway, the suspect pulled her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.
Detectives from the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Team have been working closely with theater management to gather evidence connected to the assault.
However, they report that there is still insufficient information to positively identify the suspect.
The victim was interviewed by detectives and later worked with a forensic sketch artist to create an image of the suspected assailant.
The police hope the public will come forward with any information that could help solve the case.
Authorities have urged anyone who may recognize the suspect or has additional details related to the assault to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department.
