Napa, CA — U.S. Representative Mike Thompson recently hosted a “Coffee With Our Congressman” event in Vacaville, attracting over 200 residents from across his district. The event, held on March 17 at Journey Downtown, provided constituents the opportunity to meet with their elected representative, ask questions, and discuss pressing issues from Washington, D.C.

Thompson, a Democrat from St. Helena, addressed a range of concerns raised by attendees, many of whom voiced frustration over the current administration’s policies. “It was clear from the beginning that many residents are concerned about the chaos coming out of the Administration,” Thompson said, emphasizing that the event attracted attendees from both sides of the political spectrum.

The congressman acknowledged the unease among his constituents regarding what he described as the President’s “unlawful actions,” and he reiterated his commitment to challenging these policies. “As your Congressman, I’m working to fight back against the President’s unlawful actions in Congress, in the courts, and in the court of public opinion,” Thompson said.

This event was part of a broader series of community engagements held throughout California’s Fourth District, which spans Lake, Napa, Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo counties. Similar gatherings were held in Sonoma on March 19 and Middletown on March 21. Thompson has consistently emphasized the importance of such events as a way for his constituents to engage directly with him and express their concerns.

Thompson also took the opportunity to thank the more than 200 attendees, as well as the many individuals who have reached out to his office with their opinions. “Thank you to the over 200 community members who attended Monday’s event, and the countless more who have written me, called my office, and raised their voices against this administration’s unlawful and unethical actions,” Thompson said.

In his remarks, the congressman highlighted the growing frustration among Americans over a variety of issues, including the protection of personal data, healthcare, Social Security, and veterans’ services. He pointed to the increasing anger among voters, noting that even Republican leaders are advising their party to avoid town hall-style events in response to public dissatisfaction.

“There’s a reason that Republican leaders are urging their party not to hold town halls,” Thompson noted. “Americans are rightfully angry over threats to their personal data, healthcare, veterans’ services, Social Security, and more. The President and his party are losing in the court of public opinion.”

The “Coffee With Our Congressman” event in Vacaville highlighted the ongoing tension in the political landscape, offering a platform for constituents to express their concerns while also underscoring the role of elected officials in listening to and addressing the needs of the communities they serve.
