SAN LEANDRO, CALIF. – A tragic house fire in San Leandro early Thursday morning claimed the lives of three people and left four others hospitalized with serious injuries. The fire, which broke out around 5:27 a.m. on the 2000 block of Altamont Road, sent emergency crews rushing to the scene.
According to the Alameda County Fire Department, firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames. Tragically, three victims succumbed to the effects of the fire, with two of them pronounced dead at the hospital. A child was among the deceased, and their remains were recovered from the home.
In addition to the fatalities, six individuals, including the remaining survivors, were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Authorities confirmed that one of the victims is in critical condition, while others are being treated for a range of injuries. The identities of the victims have not been released, pending notification of family members.
Firefighters worked quickly to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring homes. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by local authorities. There is no immediate word on what may have sparked the flames.
